Bioptron and Wound Healing: An Adjunctive Guide

A small clinical trial has examined Bioptron as an addition to standard care for diabetic foot ulcers. It is an interesting research signal, not a reason to self-treat wounds or delay medical care.

What one small trial does and does not show

A randomised study involving 40 people with diabetic foot ulcers evaluated Bioptron alongside standard wound care. A single small study cannot establish effectiveness for all wound types, and it does not make light therapy a substitute for wound assessment, infection management or off-loading where indicated.

Diabetes-related wounds, spreading redness, fever, increasing pain or discharge need prompt professional attention. Ask the treating clinician before adding any device-based treatment to a wound-care plan.
