Bioptron and Skin Regeneration: What the Evidence Says

Can light therapy support skin repair? Photobiomodulation is being studied for a range of skin concerns, but results depend on the device, wavelength, dose and condition. Evidence from one red-light device should not automatically be applied to Bioptron.

What the research can tell us

Bioptron uses polychromatic, polarised light. Red-light and photobiomodulation research includes different equipment and protocols, so it is not proof that this specific device regenerates skin or treats a skin condition.

The American Academy of Dermatology notes that results vary and more research is needed for many uses of red-light therapy. A dermatologist can assess whether light therapy is appropriate, especially for people with photosensitivity or medicines that increase light sensitivity.
